Dance-Theater License

The Dance-Theatre License was created September 2000 so students majoring in dance would have the option of obtaining a license to teach dance in school systems throughout Minnesota. All Dance Educators must now have this license to teach dance in Minnesota schools.

Four Minnesota colleges offer programs that lead to the Dance-Theater license:

Augsburg College in Minneapolis, (Theatre and Education portion) contact: Martha Johnson (martha.johnson@augsburg.edu )

Gustavus Adolphus College in St. Peter, contact: Michele Rusinko (mrusinko@gac.edu )

Minnesota State University-Mankato in Mankato (Dance portion), contact: Julie Kerr-Berry (julie.kerr-berry@mnsu.edu )

St. Olaf College in Northfield, contact: Sherry Saterstrom (saterstr@stolaf.edu )

For information about whether your teaching and work (life experiences) in dance-theater can be applied to the license requirements, contact: Richard Wassen of the Minnesota Department of Children, Families, and Learning  at:  richard.wassen@state.mn.us
